Mormor is an Aarhus based artist. The detail orientated quirky black and white line is the starting point for Mormor’s work always deals with human types and their comings and goings.

Mormor is best known for his illustrations but, in a big way, also embarked upon murals for companies and private customers. Working with murals is site-specific and he has made it a great virtue to consciously work with the space.

Why do you draw/paint – make art – What is it that draws you?
What drives me is my desire to tell stories. I always try to mirror the time I live in.

What projects are you currently working on?
Right now I´m doing a lot of wall paintings. Most is in Copenhagen and in my dear hometown Aarhus. I’m also working on a major solo exhibition about the Danish Royal family + I´m working on many large decoration projects. They are of course a secret so far…

What is your main inspirations when creating your own artworks?
My starting point is always people and the places people are. My wall paintings should communicate with people living and using the location my artwork is in. I want to make something unique every time I work.  It may be at a school, in a large corporation or a tiny apartment in Nørrebro…

What are your favorite art genres?
Movies, music, photography, sculptures and large canvas paintings

Which artists are on your radar right now and why?
Right now I can not get enough of Keith Haring. I saw a very large exhibition with him in Paris recently. That was crazy!

Any particular art/books/series/movies you want to recommend?
“The place beyond the pines” is the best movie I’ve seen in a long time. Unfortunately I don´t have time to read books.  I´m a very slow reader but I can just make time to read the newspaper Weekendavisen. That´s newspaper swag.

Aside from painting, drawing and making illustrations, are there other things you’d like to do in your career?
Yes! Someday I want to throw myself into making sculptures and perhaps design a large saltwater aquarium for white sharks.
